WiN - Waterfront international Network is an activity from the International Centre Cities on Water in Venice, and its purpose is to construct and develop an international scale network of contacts involved in waterfronts on different levels, with the aim of exchanging information and providing services to all those interested in the operations of redevelopment and regeneration of urban waterfront areas.

The Aims

  • To improve the level of knowledge about the different aspects of waterfront problems, focusing on advancing the state of knowledge of both the technical and operative levels, with the aim of putting forward guidelines and suggestions for future projects.
  • To create opportunities for discussion and permanent and up-to-date means and information channels for everything related to urban waterfront projects.

Activities

WiN aims to carry out the following activities:

  • collect and distribute information about competitions, projects, phases of construction, management methods for waterfront projects;
  • focus on a number of the most significant cases of redevelopment or regeneration of urban waterfronts, and obtain up-to-date information about them, with the aim of constantly following the evolution of projects and their realisation;
  • develop contacts with bodies, institutions, associations, firms, professional figures and scholars involved in varying capacities in the problems of 'waterfront redevelopment';
  • create an information archive and library of the publications on waterfronts, that can be consulted by WIN users;
  • process the information and channel it via Internet through the WIN site, with periodic updates.

How WiN functions

  • the WiN users make use of the services, responding with feedback, comments and suggestions for improving the network.
  • the WiN staff, at Cities on Water in Venice, take care of the organisation and proceedings of each activity;
